Here at the South East Cancer Help Centre we offer a Complementary therapy service to people affected by cancer within the last 3 years. The therapies will be to complement any conventional treatment you may be having/had and are not an alternative.

Complementary therapies are used alongside conventional treatments in some hospitals and hospices in the UK. Many doctors are happy for their patients to use complementary therapies , although some have been reluctant to endorse therapies because they may not have been scientifically tested in large trials by Western medical researchers. A large number of people in the UK use complementary therapies regularly to maintain their health. The therapies aim to help people to relax, reduce stress levels and enhance their feelings of well-being. No reputable therapies would claim to be able to "cure" cancer.

Under normal circumstances, we have on offer Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Massage, Reiki, Hypnotherapy, Nutrition, Facials, Manicures & Pedicures, Hair & Wig advice and group activities which include Drama, Arts & Crafts, Singing, Pilates, Yoga and Tai Chi. Information about individual therapies is available at the Centre.

We ask that you sit in the Centre for a few minutes after your treatment before you travel home.

If you experience any problems please contact the Centre Manager on 0208 668 0974. You may also speak to the Manager if you have any concerns, complaints or compliments. This will be in the strictest of confidence.

All our therapists are fully qualified members of a relevant professional association, which ensures that they meet or exceed agreed standards and that they are insured to practice.

Aromatherapists, massage therapists, reflexologists, and our nutritional therapist will also be registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council, which is a new regulatory body endorsed by the NHS. A regulatory body acts in the interest of the public and works with the professions to agree and oversee minimum standards. Other therapies will be added to the register in the near future.

Aromatherapy treats mind and body together. The scent of the essential oils used can have a powerful effect on the emotions, whilst the oils’ chemistry affects the body: soothing aches, pains and imbalance.

Our loss recovery programme is available to assist anyone who has experienced a loss, helping you to bring new meaning to life by enabling you to focus on fond memories from the past without them turning painful and rediscovering new meaning to life.

Massage is a natural way to help you relax and cope with stress. Studies suggest that it can help to reduce symptoms such as pain, nausea, anxiety and fatigue.

A specialised form of foot massage using gentle pressure on specific points on the feet to relieve a range of symptoms.

A gentle hands-on technique which releases energy flow to help relax, reduce stress and support the body’s healing processes.

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is now extensively practised around the world and continues to develop in popularity for a wide range of people. It is a gentle but potent way of working with the body using gentle, light touch. People sometimes ask about the name “craniosacral therapy” and think it only refers to the head. In fact CST works with the whole person and changes may occur in body, mind and spirit during and after sessions.
