Paint Purley Purple

This year’s Paint Purley Purple (PPP) which is held in October to raise awareness and much needed funds for the South East Cancer Help Centre (SECHC) has been severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result, your support is more important to us than ever.

Usually our volunteers cover the trees and benches around Purley in purple knitting which brightens the whole town and highlights the work we do helping people affected by cancer. People are often seen having their photos taken hugging the trees and touching the knitwear. Stopping the transmission of Covid -19 is a priority at the moment and therefore it has been decided that it is not appropriate for us to decorate Purley this year however we are asking people to continue to support us by downloading a PPP poster (see below) and displaying it in your windows.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, SECHC is offering its Members, many who have been shielding, a range of online and interactive services. These include telephone and online Counselling, Pilates, Seated Yoga, Guided Relaxation, Tai Chi, and Distance Reiki. SECHC’s Cancer Support Groups are also continuing to provide their vital services.

PPP is usually our biggest fundraiser and the lack of fundraising during this period is going to seriously affect our finances in the coming months. We appreciate that times are hard but helping us to continue to support people affected by cancer is more important than ever.
