The SECHC enjoys a close relationship with Medical professionals as well as other organisations who provide complementary services. Our facilities have local NHS recognition.
Stephen Richards is Director of London, Anglia and South East Region, Macmillan Cancer Support
“Macmillan Cancer Support has
enjoyed a strong working relationship with SECHC over a number of years. In 2006/2007 this has been exemplified by the dedicated links created with the Macmillan Information Centre at the Mayday Hospital. Each week the SECHC provides weekly complementary therapy sessions to the Mayday Macmillan Information Centre. This extension of our services ensures that everyone in this area has access to high quality cancer information and support.
At Macmillan we strive to work in partnership with organisations that achieve a level of excellence in the field of information and support. SECHC has proved themselves over many years to be leaders in the provision of these services.
I was immensely pleased to note that the Macmillan “Living with Cancer” seminars have commenced at the Centre and have had good attendance and feedback from those who have participated. I feel that these informative and very practical courses will strengthen the bond between our organisations and also help us achieve our goal of reaching out to all people affected by cancer.
Finally, I would like to thank SECHC for their ongoing commitment to providing excellent support for patients and friends affected by cancer. By working together we can make a real difference to their lives.”
John Yarnold is Professor of Clinical Oncology at the Institute of Cancer Research and Royal Marsden Hospital
“For many years our patients have found advice and support at the South East Cancer Help Centre. It is often the case that adjustment to the uncertainties of life after breast cancer only really begins once hospital treatment has finished. Before that, so much time and energy is taken up dealing with all the information provided, deciding on the treatments to take and then coping with the side-effects. The doctors, nurses and other hospital staff offer support in their own ways, but the focus of the Centre at Purley provides a range of specialist complementary advice and help that many women find immensely valuable. I look forward to following the continued success of your Centre in the year ahead.”

Lead Cancer Urologist, Mayday University Hospital.
Regional Pelvic Cancer Surgeon, St. George’s Hospital.
I have followed the activities of the South East Cancer Help Centre for a number of years and in 2004 became a Trustee and Director. The Centre can rightly be proud of the high standards of service it offers to all those affected by cancer.
This includes a very active prostate group at the South East Cancer Help Centre. Men with prostate cancer and their families have found this resource extremely beneficial. It provides a setting in which patients and their partners are able to share experiences and air concerns in a relaxed atmosphere. I have found my personal involvement with the prostate group most rewarding. My visits to the South East Cancer Help Centre have always been a positive experience.
In my clinics at Mayday, I advise patients newly diagnosed with cancer to avail themselves of the excellent facilities at Purley. I wish the Centre my very best.
