Shiatsu is an ancient form of Japanese healing
dating back 5000 years to the time acupuncture was first used. However
instead of needles, pressure is applied to the same points and meridians
using the thumbs, fingers and palms. Stretches and rotational movement
techniques are also used to balance and restore the body's energy
system.
Healing Energy - Shiatsu moves and balances energy
within the body resulting in a deep state of relaxation, calm and
well being, by enhancing and supporting the body's own ability to
heal itself.
But you do not need to have any ailment to enjoy
or benefit from Shiatsu. The aim is to restore and maintain the
body's energetic balance, on the spiritual, emotional and physical
levels.
Treatment is carried out through loose fitting
clothes, usually on a padded futon on the floor, but if necessary
on a chair or a bed. Treatment is from 45mins to 1 hour.
