EImage1.jpgA QVC film crew visited the South East Cancer Help Centre (SECHC) on Wednesday 15th September to make a documentary, in conjunction with Breast Cancer Care, on SECHC patient member Emma Freeborn.  The crew followed Emma for a whole day to highlight how she has coped with Breast Cancer – needless-to-say SECHC has played its part and will be featured in the short documentary.

EImage2.jpgEmma said about the experience “"It was lots of fun having the QVC team share a day with me. The highlight was definitely showing them the South East Cancer Help Centre as I've received so much support from the Centre over the years. I feel really lucky to live just down the road from the centre. I'm looking forward to seeing myself on TV and am really pleased that Breast Cancer Care and QVC are doing all they can to raise the profile of secondary breast cancer issues".”

Emma’s story will be shown on the Breast Cancer Care fundraising show, ‘Be Aware, Show You Care’ which will be broadcast on QVC on Wednesday 13th October between 7 - 10pm.

QVC is one of the worlds’ leading TV and online shopping channels - all products will be sold at a 25% discount with net proceeds going to Breast Cancer Care. To date QVC has raised over £3 million for BCC and has been working with them for over ten years.

The QVC presenters, Charlie Brook and Julia Roberts will be hosting the evening and will be joined on-air by some of the models who appeared in the BCC fashion show as well as Lesley Joseph.

You can tune into the show on QVC on Freeview channel 16, Sky channel 640, Virgin TV channel 740 or Freesat channel 800.

For several years now SECHC, which has local NHS approval, has provided Breast Cancer Care’s HeadStrong service at their Purley centre (Tesco Development) every Friday.  This service allows men and women to experiment with different types of headwear and shows them how hairpieces, hats and intricately tied scarves can give them more confidence.  All the volunteers have been specially trained by Breast Cancer Care to give the best advice possible.
