Barn Dance
The Barn Dance at St John the Baptist Church Hall in Purley went down a storm as the huge audience clapped, stamped, waltzed and do-si-do'ed their way around the large dance floor all evening.
It was great that the event was a sell out and the folks were treated to a wide range of traditional English dances. Square dances, circle dances, contra dances and waltzes were enjoyed by all and the fish and chips supper hardly slowed the crowd down at all.
Our brilliant callers, Sue and Pat, explained each dance to the participants (sometimes they did seem like competitors) and then they were off! Mistakes were enjoyed as much as the successes as we all had a fantastic time. There were huge peals of laughter at the absolute mayhem caused by the more complicated steps but as none of the "sets" were thrown out for incompetence it was all taken in good spirit.

Many thanks to Sue and Pat for organising it all and to their "movers and shakers" who set the hall up and cleared up afterwards.
