What is counselling?
Counselling is about helping you to think things
through for yourself to find your own answers. It is not always
an easy process, as it may mean talking about things you feel uncomfortable
about. But it can also be a relief to air these feelings, thoughts
and ideas with someone who listens, does not judge and respects
your confidentiality. Talking with a counsellor may help you to
become clearer about yourself and your life.
Why counselling?
Receiving a diagnosis of cancer is a very stressful
experience and counselling can be helpful. In a calm and relaxed
setting, you have the opportunity to explore the problems or issues
which are perhaps causing pain or difficulty.
Counselling can enable a person to see things
more clearly, take control of their life and even discover new strengths
and resources within themselves.
Counselling
here at the South East Cancer Help Centre
is always arranged at the request of the client. If you would like
to explore the possibility of counselling, do discuss this with
the Co-ordinator.
All enquiries are dealt with in confidence.
Clients meet with one of our counsellors on a
weekly basis.
Counselling may end after a few sessions or it
may continue over several weeks.
